Holly Hilton received her law degree from The National Law Center at The George Washington University and was admitted to the Virginia Bar in 1987. She received her Bachelors of Business Administration from the School of Government and Business Administration of The George Washington University in 1981. Since opening her law firm in 2006, she has focused on elder law and education law issues. Her experience includes:

  • representing parents of children with special needs in addressing educational concerns and advocating for the child with the school systems
  • estate planning
  • long term care planning
  • guardianships for incapacitated adults
  • property challenges and transfers
  • business contract claims
  • insurance issues
  • representing children as a Guardian ad litem in foster care and custody cases
  • family, landlord/tenant, and consumer law as a Legal Aid attorney

Holly's preferences and experience lie in handling cases that involve personal issues that affect the quality of her clients' lives, such as estate planning, probate, health related cases and elder law issues, and adoptions. She divides her time between her Charlottesville and Orange offices. She is a member of the Charlottesville Albemarle Bar Association.

Additionally, Holly is a certified mediator for general district court cases, and performs mediations on a regular basis. She is committed to approaching the opposite side of a case in an effort to negotiate a result that is satisfactory to all, and that takes practical and financial issues into account. She served on the Board of Directors for Piedmont Dispute Resolution Center for eight years, and held positions of Secretary and Vice President on the Board.

Holly is a Messianic (Christian) Jew. The Lord and her family are her passion and her joy. She is blessed with three children, who are quickly becoming adults, and the family enjoys the company of their three dogs and two cats. The beauty and peace of living in Madison County is also counted among their blessings. Holly loves running her law firm because she adores her clients and appreciates the freedom she has to serve them fully and compassionately.

Doug Hilton, Of Counsel

Doug Hilton is an experienced, multi-faceted attorney. He was admitted to the Virginia Bar in 1987, as a National Law Center (The George Washington University Law School) graduate with honors, and received a Bachelors of Science in political science from The George Washington University in 1981. His career has taken two varied paths; he is a highly respected Associate General Counsel at the Corporation for National and Community and Service (CNCS), and has fifteen years of related experience with the General Accounting Office as Assistant and then Associate General Counsel, and as Counsel to the Inspector General of CNCS. He has done a wide variety of legal work for such agencies, but has focussed on legislation and appropriations in his federal government positions, including testifying on Capitol Hill in support of the legislation he has drafted.

Additionally, Doug has years of general practice experience in which he has handled countless property, landlord/tenant ,and commercial and consumer cases in his own practice, with Rappahannock Legal Services, and with Button Yeaman and Associates. Bob Yeaman of Button Yeaman and Associates referred to Doug as "the best partition suit litigator in the Culpeper area." Doug likewise impressed the Executive Director at Rappahannock Legal Services within his first few months by winning a case in the Virginia Court of Appeals, and that case was later published for its legal significance. His versatility and superlative analytical abilities are invaluable assets to the law firm. Doug holds a full time position at the CNCS, but is available for counsel and assistance on all cases. Doug Hilton is married to the principal owner of the law firm, Holly Hilton, and they enjoy sharing their home life and their careers with one another.
